Besides being a primary material in the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries, it is also required in the production of high thermal conductivity SiNx substrates as a precursor. However, apart from the necessity for the particle size to be in the micrometer range or even smaller, there is also a certain requirement for purity.

Currently, the production of Si powder primarily relies on high-temperature refinement of multicrystalline silicon as the main source. After physical purification, the material is processed to the required size through grinding. As the desired particle size decreases, the grinding time increases.
